USBA TOUR EVENTS

Minimum number of tables required to hold a USBA TOUR Event is 2.
USBA TOUR EVENTS are special events that are larger in scope than regular tournaments. Typically they allow for more players, the entry fees are usually higher and there is added money to the event, both by the room owner and by the TOUR Sponsors. "OPEN" TOUR EVENTS generally bring top players to the event and prize money is typically between $8,000 and $20,000 overall with the first place price usually between $2,500 and $4,000. "B" or "C" TOUR EVENTS generally bring top "B" and "C" players to the event and prize money is typically between $4,000 and $12,000 overall with the first place price usually between $1,000 and $2,000. A handicap tournament can be scheduled in place of a "B" or "B/C" slot but not in an "Open" slot. The handicap system used must be approved by the USBA TOUR Committee. There will be no ranking points given for handicap tournaments.
Room Owners generally add anywhere between $1,000 and $3,000 (or more) to "OPEN" events and $500 to $1500 for "B" and "C" events. The TOUR Sponsors will generally match that amount or exceed it. See packages below which include a Tiger carom cue and trophies.
Only USBA Room Members are permitted to hold a TOUR EVENT. If you are not yet a Room Member, then you really should become one. You get the lowest possible prices on Simonis cloth, Aramith balls, Tiger Cues and more plus you receive commissions from the USBA. There is no cost to become a Room Member if you agree to hold just 2 USBA Tournaments per year in your room. Any type of USBA tournaments can be held.

Each room is only allowed to host 1 "Open" Tour Event and 1 "B" Tour Event for a give Tour Season which starts February of each year. The ideal situation is for the USBA to have 1 "Open" event and 1 "B" event in each of 6 different regions of the country. This may not always be possible. Exceptions will be made if there are still available dates on the calendar and the available date is less than 2 months away. Then the schedule will be filled at the discretion of the USBA TOUR Director or Committee.

USBA Rankings Bonus: For "Open" TOUR events, the top 6 nationally-ranked players will each receive $300 expense money when they arrive and play at the event, assuming they are eligible to participate. "B" or "C" players are also permitted to participate in this benefit if they manage to become nationally-ranked into the top six. This extra bonus money is coming directly from individual sponsors. In order to qualify for the bonus, a player must reside in the United States and must not play in a foreign National Championship. The Rankings Bonus qualifications for each event will be based on the USBA Rankings that is in effect at the time that the tournament is officially announced. Those players' names will be posted in the tournament announcement and will not change regardless of any in-between rankings changes.
The USBA does not use membership dues money to finance tournaments other than the USBA National Championship Tournament. It generally costs the USBA anywhere from $2000-$4000 each year to run the National Championship Tournament. Individual sponsors have donated money to the USBA specifically for the purpose of financing USBA Tournaments and the USBA TOUR in particular.
