The USBA will send 2 players to compete in the 2011 CPB Pan American Championship Tournament (PAC) being held May 16-21, 2011 in Mexico. The two players will be decided by the 2010 USBA Final Rankings, where “A” players receive priority over “B” players and “B” players receive priority over “C” players. The # 1 ranked player is Jae Hyung Cho and the # 2 ranked player is Pedro Piedrabuena. If either of these players cannot attend, then the # 3 ranked player will attend, and so on. Each of the two participating players will receive $1250 from the USBA for expenses and the USBA will also pay their inscription fees. The players should keep their own receipts for expenses and will receive a 1099 at the end of the year for the expense money received.
The USBA can also send an additional 2 players to compete in the Main Tournament. If any players wish to attend, they may do so at their own expense. The additional 2 players will also be determined by the 2010 USBA Final Rankings where “A” players receive priority over “B” players and “B” players receive priority over “C” players.
Any player is free to enter the Qualification rounds of the tournament at their own expense. The deadline for inscriptions will be March 15th, 2011.
If one or two players qualify to compete in the UMB World Championship Tournament being held July 11-17, 2011 in Lima, Peru, then the USBA will give $1500 to each player for expenses. The players should keep their own receipts for expenses and will receive a 1099 at the end of the year for the expense money received. Any prize money won at either the PAC or the World Championship shall be kept by the players.
Each of the two players that are sent by the USBA to compete in the PAC will agree to hold a clinic during 2011. The most ideal time will be right before the player(s) compete in a USBA TOUR “Open” tournament. If the tournament is from Friday through Sunday, the player(s) will arrive on Wednesday and hold a 3-hour Wednesday night clinic. A second session will also be held on Thursday during the day for 3 hours. Clinic details will be determined later. The player(s) holding the clinic may keep any revenues received.
Any players that are sent by the USBA to compete in the World Championship will also agree to hold a clinic during 2011, so if a player receives expense money from the USBA for both the PAC and the World Championship, then they will hold 2 clinics during the 2011 year.
The top 2 finishers in the 2011 USBA National Championship will be given first priority to compete in the 2012 PAC. The same rules and guidelines will apply for all subsequent years based on these 2011 rules except that the order of priority will not be based on rankings, but on the order of finish in each previous year’s National Championship.
