You are invited to join us in Tacoma on March 6, 7, 8, 2009 for a USBA 3-Cushion Billiards tournament!

Play on 5 heated Verhoeven tables will begin Friday morning and continue on Saturday, with finals on Sunday, March 8.

We expect to have “local luminaries” in the form of 2 to 3 players who will have shortly returned from their participation in the 2009 USBA National Championship (maybe even a champion or two, depending on how well our guys do). Also, a number of other excellent local players, naturally. And: Ken Higgins is expected to play after the extraordinarly rare occurrence of his absence as a participant in the December regional qualifying tournament, just in case you want the comfort level of knowing confidently that you’ll beat somebody!
What could be better? Plenty of quality competition, and the occasional walk-in-the-park match!

In general, a good time is expected for all who participate. Some
outstanding shots are bound to be unleashed, along with the occasional “truly creative” ones. Plus, we’ll be glad to see you!

The tournament announcement bulletin is attached. Please note the new instructions regarding entry fees. Please send your entry to Tim Poole as per the announcement.

Special note for Tacoma players: entry fees can be placed in an envelope addressed to Tim Poole and left at the Tacoma Elks Lodge front desk. Bring a flower or some token of appreciation for the staff if you do this, or, better yet, make a contribution to any of the Elks funds. The world will be a better place, and you’ll feel good.

USBA membership is required for participation in this USBA-
sanctioned tournament. If not already a member, contact the USBA
at www.USBA.net and join. USBA membership forms will also be available at the tournament.

Entry: $65 - 1st Division Players; $40 - 2nd Division Players
USBA membership required.
Cash
Payout: $10 from each entry will be paid to the Tacoma Billiard Federation (aka, Tacoma Elks billiards fund). $5 per player will be paid to the USBA. All remaining funds from entry fees will be paid in prize money. One half of the entry fees of the 2nd Division will form a cash pool eligible only to this group. The total number of awards in the Tournament payout and 2nd Division payout will be determined once all entries have been received.

Important: Entry fee, payable to Tacoma Billiard Federation, needs to be received by March 4, 2009 to allow flight schedules to be determined and USBA membership status to be validated. The tournament is limited to the first 24 entries received.

Play will start 10:00 AM Friday and Saturday. The schedule will try to accommodate a flexible Friday & Saturday start for those that need this (if requested in advance).

Sunday finals will start at 9:30 AM.

Tournament format will be round-robin-within-flights, played on five Verhoeven tables. Number of flights, and requirements for entry to finals, to be determined once all paid entries are received.

Entry fee should include name, address, and phone number or email id. Entries not requesting special start times will be scheduled as best fits.
