and Fred Lamers Qualify into the 2010 Nationals

We had 20 entrants in the qualifier in Marshalltown, IA Nov.13th-15th. It was an open draw divided into 4 flights of 5 with the top 2 from each flight advancing to the finals. Prelims were played to 25 points.

Emerging from the Clubs flight were James Richards(WI) with a perfect 4-0, and Carl Nelson(IA) 2-2 beating out Rich Kuchma(NE) by 9 points. Also in clubs were Jose Jimenez and Lorenzo Chaveria both from IA.

Topping out the Diamonds flight John Jacobson(IA) 4-0 and George Ashby(IL) 3-1. Edward 'Bud' Wedge(IA), Jamie Sibley(NE) and Brad Vollmers(MN) finished out this flight.

Lupe Cruz (IA) showed his skills going undefeated in the Spades flight with Dale Saunders (WI) 3-1. Gary Eake(WI), Bernard Kapinos(WI) and Steve 'Machine Gun' Gullet(IA) were also duking it out in Spades.

Fred Lamers(MN) had little trouble sweeping up in the Hearts flight with Doug Brink(MO) at 3-1. Next in line were Donny Cogan(MN), Russ 'Rosie' Rosenberger(IA) and Matt Lind(MN) in his first USBA event. Rosie had high run in the tournament with a sizzling 7 against Fred. He also recieved the only cash prize when George Ashby handed him $1.00 for his nice run.

The top eight were then seeded into 2 flights of 4 with the top 2 finishers of each flight gaining Nationals entry! Finals were to 30 points.

Group 1 had John Jacobson 3-0 and George 2-1, James Richards 1-2 and Carl Nelson 0-3.

In group 2, Lupe Cruz 3-0 squeeked by Fred Lamers 2-1 by 3 points leaving Doug Brink @ 1-2 and Dale Saunders 0-3. Best game in finals was 1.00 by Fred.

Round robin 25 point matches in prelims and finals.

Advancement to finals based on W/L, total points, head to head

$105 entry plus USBA membership.

We will pay one player's entry fee to the Nationals
for each 5 players entered (minimum 6 players).

Nationals to be held in Tacoma, WA on Feb 17-21, 2010
