The second Regional Qualifier for the USBA National Championship started on Sunday, January 6th, also at the Executive Inn in Louisville, KY, and also had 18 players. The format was the same as the first qualifier with 3 places available for the Nationals Championship.

The preliminaries:

Flight H: Jim Shovak goes 3-2 with 121 points scored to finish first. Gary Scharf, also 3-2 finishes 2nd with 112 points scored. Glen Dockstader and Steve Andersen also finished with a 3-2 record, but only had 112 and 105 points respectively, just missing out on the finals.

Flight I: George Theobald finishes first with a 3-2 record and 122 points scored. Spencer Winston also goes 3-2 with 115 points scored to earn a 2nd place position. Bob Mc Culley and Russell Rosenberger also go 3-2 with 114 and 100 points respectively, just missing out on the finals.

Flight J: New to the scene and from Texas, Juan Elizalde wins the group going 4-1. Dan Kolacz finishes 2nd with a 3-2 record and 119 points scored. Billy Carrelli goes 3-2 with 111 points scored, just missing out on the finals.

The finals:

Dan Kolacz and Jim Shovak are the favorites going into the finals, but with the table conditions offering some interesting challenges, anything could happen. Dan Kolacz finishes first going 5-0. Juan Elizalde goes 3-2 with 113 points scored, finishing 2nd. Gary Scharf squeezes into 3rd with a 3-2 record and 100 points scored following a last game loss by Shovak to George Theobald.
