Michael Kang, Francisco Parra and Young Gull Lee Qualify at Carom Cafe

16 players entered the Carom Café Qualifier in the hopes of finishing in the top 3 positions so that they could gain entry into the 2008 USBA National Championship in Louisville, KY on January 9-13, 2008.

The groups were divided into groups of 4 players who played a round robin. The top 2 finishers in each group advanced to the next round where they would play each other by their ranking in a single elimination 40 point match.

The 8 players who advanced were Michael Kang, Francisco Parra, Young Gull Lee, Min Jae Pak, Sonny Cho, Jim Watson, Francisco Loaiza and Eddy Pantoja.

Michael Kang defeated Francisco Loaiza 40-28. Min Jae Pak defeated Sonny Cho 40-32. Francisco Parra defeated Jim Watson 40-28 and Young Gull Lee defeated Eddy Pantoja 40-16.

The top 4 then played each other by ranking to determine the top 2 finishers.

Michael Kang defeated Min Jae Pak 40-19 and Francisco Parra defeated Young Gull Lee 40-30 meaning that Michael Kang would play Francisco Parra to determine first and second place and Min Jae Pak would play Young Gull Lee to determine 3rd and 4th place.

Michael Kang defeated Francisco Parra 40-24 and Young Gull Lee defeated Min Jae Pak 40-37.

Order of finish: Michael Kang, Francisco Parra and Young Gull Lee qualified for the Nationals and Min Jae Pak finished in 4th place.
